President's Letter
This is the 51st Anniversary of the Coastal Carolina Fair. We are proud to have brought happiness and joy to over 5 million fairgoers, in the last 25 years alone.
We are unique for many reasons. First of all, we are a volunteer-run fair. For the last half century, the EXCHANGE CLUB OF CHARLESTON has owned and operated the cleanest, safest, most enjoyable event of its kind. The Club is one of the oldest and largest local service clubs in the country, boasting more than 270 members, who contribute more than 10,000 hours annually to bring the Fair to the lowcountry.
Another reason the Fair is unique is the fact that our proceeds go back into the local communities within Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester counties. Last year, we were able to return over $560,000.00 to the community through grants to local nonprofit organizations. From Darkness to Light, Lowcountry Children’s Center, Lowcountry Food Bank, Crisis Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, and many more can attest to the impacts we have had on local community issues. To date, The Exchange Club of Charleston has been able to contribute more than 6.5 million dollars to address community concerns.
Each year, we strive to continue bringing a clean, safe, entertaining environment to our fairgoers. Over the years you have seen the COASTAL CAROLINA FAIR grow and improve its operations. This year there will be a new Gate 2 entrance, along with a new "Lost & Found" Caboose for children at Gate 1.
We thank all of the organizations, sponsors, governmental entities and agencies who have helped us reach this milestone. We are grateful for all of patrons who came as a child, returned with their children, and now come each fall with their grandchildren.
OUR FAIR IS FOR YOU! WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL ENJOY WHAT WE HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU THIS YEAR!
With warmest regards,
Donald B. (Chip) Boling, Jr.
